  13. Ford ar putea muta productia modelului Fiesta in Romania Concernul auto american Ford ar putea muta productia modelului de mici dimensiuni Fiesta din vestul Europei in Romania. Compania intentioneaza sa fabrice un nou model de autoturism aflat in prezent in curs de proiectare in Germania si Marea Britanie, a declarat John Fleming, presedinte si director general al Ford Europa, intr-un interviu acordat TVR. Conform analistilor din piata, modelul vizat ar putea fi Fiesta, cel mai vandut model Ford la nivel local. Costurile de productie mai mici din Romania decat cele din Europa de Vest ar fi principalul motiv al deciziei Ford de a delocaliza productia modelului Fiesta. "Modelul de care vorbea Fleming va fi cu certitudine noul Fiesta, care va fi fabricat in exclusivitate la fabrica de la Craiova. Compania cauta in acest moment o platforma industriala noua pentru acest model", a declarat pentru Business Standard Dan Vardie, directorul fondator al revistei Autoshow. Actuala generatie de Fiesta se asambleaza in uzinele din Valencia, Spania, si Cologne, Germania. Ford a vandut in 2005 modelul Fiesta in 323.000 de exemplare. Viitoarea generatie a modelului urmeaza sa fie lansata anul viitor. Intentiile Ford pentru fabrica de la Craiova Capacitatea de asamblare a fostei uzine Daewoo se va ridica la 300.000 de exemplare pe an din 2011, conform oficialilor Ford. Capacitatea ar putea fi majorata peste aceasta valoare daca piata o va cere, crede directorul Autoshow. "Pentru inceput, in 2008, capacitatea de productie a fabricii de la Craiova va fi de 150.000-160.000 de unitati. In afara de Fiesta, concernul american ar putea produce si un al doilea model in Romania", a adaugat Vardie. Acest model ar putea fi pick-up-ul Ford Ranger, care in prezent este asamblat in Statele Unite din cauza lipsei capacitatilor de productie in Europa, crede directorul Autoshow. "Ford Ranger genereaza volume de vanzari de 30.000 de unitati la nivelul intregii Europe", spune Vardie. Noul Fiesta va beneficia de pe urma costurilor mai reduse asociate fortei de munca din Romania, insa nu va avea un pret semnificativ mai mic decat actuala generatie sau decat masinile similare din segmentul sau, crede Vardie. Actuala Fiesta are preturi de pornire de 10.000 de euro cu TVA, la fel ca si concurentii sai directi, modele precum Renualt Clio 3 sau Volkswagen Polo. "Parerea mea este ca la Craiova nu va fi produs un concurent direct pentru Dacia Logan. Va fi vorba de un model de mici dimensiuni, cu preturi apropiate, insa, de Logan", crede si Mihai Heimann, presedintele grupului de presa Auto Mondial Media. Ford Motor Company este singurul ofertant pentru preluarea Automobile Craiova. Proiecte Ford s-a angajat sa faca investitii directe de 675 milioane de euro la Craiova, pentru retehnologizarea si modernizarea uzinei. Concernul american spune ca va transforma uzina intr-una dintre cele mai importante unitati de productie Ford din Europa si se obliga sa aiba in Romania cheltuieli de un miliard de euro pe an din 2012 si sa produca anual 300.000 de autovehicule si tot atatea motoare. Declaratia a fost facuta, astazi, de premierul Calin Poescu Tariceanu dupa sedinta extraordinara de guvern. Seful executivului a mai spus ca 60% din componentele autorismelor Ford pentru Europa vor fi produse în România. Însa, 94% din masini vor fi exportate. În opinia premierului Tariceanu, privatizarea Automobile Craiova, va avea efecte economice mai importante decât privatizarea Bancii Comeriale Române. Premierul Tariceanu a declarat, marti, ca oferta tehnica a Ford pentru Automobile Craiova, prezentata de presedintele companiei, este extrem de detaliata si consistenta, raspunde cerintelor guvernului, iar pretul oferit nu reprezinta o prioritate, ci efortul investitional. 'Este un proiect industrial de anvergura. Urmarim efectele economice pe care le poate genera o astfel de întreprindere, nu ne concentram pe pret, luam în calcul efortul investitional al companiei care va fi de 675 milioane euro, cu 300 mii autoturisme produse anual si cu dublararea numarului de locuri de munca', a afirmat Tariceanu. Premierul a spus ca guvernul vrea sa creeze un al doilea pol al industriei auto în România. 'Analistii economici considera ca industria auto este cel mai puternic motor al cresterii economice pentru ca un loc de munca în aceasta industrie genereaza alte patru în industriile conexe', a explicat acesta. Guvernul este interesat sa acorde tot sprijinul companiei Ford, alaturi de care îsi doreste un parteneriat, având în vedere implicatiile economice ale privatizarii societatii de la Craiova, a mai precizat premierul. 'Privatizarea Automobile Craiova este mai importanta decât cea a BCR, pentru care s-a obtinut o suma record în Europa de Sud Est, din perspectiva efectelor economice colaterale', a sustinut Tariceanu. Presedintele Ford Europa, John Fleming, i-a prezentat, luni, premierului Tariceanu oferta tehnica a companiei Ford pentru pachetul de actiuni de 72,4% detinut de stat la Automobile Craiova. Ford vrea sa produca 300.000 de masini la Craiova Producatorul de automobile Ford, cel de-al doilea mare constructor de domeniu pe plan mondial, doreste sa produca 300.000 de autovehicule pe an la uzina de la Craiova din 2011, cu 50% peste limita minima impusa in caietul de sarcini. Ford este singurul ofertant in cadrul procesului de privatizare al uzinei de automobile ce a apartinut concernului coreean Daewoo. Concernul american Ford s-a angajat, prin oferta pe care a depus-o la Autoritatea pentru Valorificarea Activelor Statului (AVAS) pentru preluarea Automobile Craiova, actionarul majoritar al uzinei Daewoo Craiova, sa produca 300.000 de autovehicule pe an, a declarat Mihai Voicu, ministrul pentru Relatia cu Parlamentul, si membru in cadrul Comisiei de Privatizare, citat de Mediafax. Acest nivel de productie urmeaza sa fie atins in 2011. Tot din 2011 urmeaza sa fie produse la Craiova si 300.000 de motoare anual. Investitiile directe in modernizarea si dezvoltarea uzinei vor atinge 675 milioane de euro. Compania Ford este de acord sa ajunga la un grad de integrare (procentajul din valoarea totala a autovehiculului achizitionat de pe piata interna) de 60%, asa cum cere caietul de sarcini. La fabrica de la Craiova se va dubla numarul angajatilor, pana la 7.000-9.000 de oameni, in conditiile in care cerinta minima a autoritatilor romane era mentinerea numarului de 3.000 de angajati existent. Americanii sunt asistati in procesul de privatizare de cea mai mare casa de avocatura de la nivel local, Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen. Presedintele AVAS, Teodor Atanasiu, a declarat ca Ford Europa a facut o oferta tehnica mai generoasa pentru societatea Automobile Craiova decat criteriile impuse in caietul de sarcini de catre statul roman. "Aceasta ne duce la premisele nu numai ale unei privatizari de succes, ci si ale unei constructii industriale de mare anvergura in Craiova si crearea celui de-al doilea mare producator de autoturisme din Romania", a adaugat Atanasiu. Daewoo Automobile a rascumparat anul trecut actiunile detinute de compania sud-coreeana Daewoo Motor la uzina de automobile, pentru 60 milioane de dolari (46 milioane de euro). Contractul de transfer al participatiei de 51% si tranzactia creantelor, intre Daewoo Motor Co si Daewoo Automobile Romania, a fost semnat in luna august 2006. Oferta tehnica si cea financiara depusa de Ford urmeaza sa fie analizata azi de catre reprezentantii Comisiei de privatizare a societatii Automobile Craiova. Nu stiu cata legatura are cu topicul, dar m-am gandit ca poate fi interesant: DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co. workers and retirees got a glimpse of the company's future Monday -- including an all-new subcompact car, the next-generation F-150 pickup and a reimagined Explorer sport utility vehicle-- during a series of morale-building forums at Cobo Arena. The event was closed to the media and Ford required attendees to sign confidentiality agreements, but The Detroit News spoke with a number of employees and retirees afterward. Most came away enthused and confident that Ford has enough hot new vehicles in the pipeline to help fuel a turnaround. The event, called "Showroom of the Future," was a first for Ford and offered a look at vehicles that will go into production between now and 2010. Many had never been seen outside of Ford's closely guarded design studios in Dearborn. Topping the list of surprises was a prototype for a Ford subcompact car that would fill a glaring hole in the automaker's lineup. Mark Fields, president of Ford's Americas group, has been talking about building a small, stylish and fuel-efficient "B-car" since taking over the automaker's domestic operations last fall. But he had yet to offer so much as a sketch of what that vehicle would look like until Monday. The four-door sedan features a three-bar grille and wraparound headlamps. It's powered by a four-cylinder, 1.8-liter engine already used in Europe, though new options could be available by the time the car goes into production in 2009 or 2010. It is designed to compete with the Honda Fit. "If they brought it out now, it might hit the mark," said analyst Jim Hall of AutoPacific Inc. in Troy, who is familiar with the vehicle. "But they can't bring it out now." Ford also unveiled two redesigned versions of its stalwart F-150 pickup Monday. The new F-150, which is expected to go into production in 2008, borrows from the bolder look of Ford's Super Duty pickups. "It's an in-your-face (grille)," said Hall, adding that it will take more than good looks to guarantee the F-150's future success. "A lot of it is going to be determined by how it drives and how it does in fuel economy." The F-series is facing stiffer competition than ever. General Motors Corp. has new versions of its Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra coming to market right now and Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. is about to introduce its first true full-size pickup. In addition to substantially refreshed styling, the revamped F-150 will offer new powertrain options, including a diesel engine. However, that will not be offered on the initial version. Ford also showed a photo of a next-generation Ford Explorer codenamed ORE -- which stands for On-Road Explorer. The design was more sporty than rugged and the vehicle was based on a car platform rather than that of a truck. Also shown for the first time was the production version of Ford's "people mover," a full-size crossover based on the Fairlane concept shown at the Detroit auto show in 2005. The unnamed vehicle still features the Fairlane's squared-off sides and a white roof. Ford also unveiled refreshed versions of its Focus compact car -- with a chrome two-bar grille -- the midsize Fusion sedan, the Five Hundred large sedan and the Mustang coupe. "We're definitely delivering the product," said Bruce Whittle, a supervisor in Ford's chassis section, who was excited about the vehicles he saw at Cobo but wouldn't reveal details. The Lincoln brand's new MKS flagship sedan was a favorite of some attendees. A prototype was unveiled at last year's North American International Auto Show, but participants got to see the production version Monday, which will not arrive in showrooms until 2008. No Mercury vehicles were on display, but photos were shown of refreshed versions of Montego and Milan sedans and the Mariner SUV. The highlight of "Showroom of the Future," most agreed, was the tiny new subcompact. Ford insiders say it will be built on a new platform being developed by Mazda Motor Corp., which Ford controls. Known internally as the B2E platform, it will also provide the basic architecture for the next-generation Ford Fiesta and Mazda2. Other versions are also planned for the U.S. market, including a small crossover. Ford spokeswoman Sara Tatchio confirmed that the company did unveil "one possible design" for the subcompact Monday, but would not discuss details of the vehicle. "We'll get a B-car as fast as we can with the right design and right business case," she said. Ford was already well on its way to delivering a subcompact SUV for the U.S. market when Fields took over last year. But he killed that project, saying it was designed to compete on price alone, not on style or quality. Ford's focus shifted to developing an American version of the new Mazda. At one point, Ford hoped to build the new subcompact in Mexico, expanding one of its existing plants to accommodate the new vehicle. But Ford's financial woes have called that plan into question. "Right now, we're planning to build the B-car in Brazil," said one person familiar the plan. "But that changes daily."

Chevrolet to start production in the European Union Chevrolet Europe has issued the following press release: Starting in fall 2007, the Aveo, Chevrolet’s small four-door sedan, will be built at a production facility in Warsaw in Poland for sale throughout Europe. An all-new, three- and five-door hatchback variant will be assembled at the same location as of mid-2008. The current Aveo (called Kalos in some markets) is Chevrolet’s best-selling model in Europe, with registrations totaling 78,500 in the first nine months of this year. Building the vehicle in Europe will allow Chevrolet to satisfy continuing high demand and shorten delivery times (currently from Asia) while reducing logistics costs as well as currency risks for the company. The move will also make it easier to allocate vehicles produced at GM’s Korean manufacturing facilities for sale in Asia and, for example, in the USA, where the Aveo is the number one car in its segment. The Chevrolet cars built in Poland will be sold throughout Europe. Michael A. Grimaldi, president and CEO of GM Daewoo, said: “Assembly in Europe will help ensure the continued growth of the Chevrolet brand in Europe, and give GM Daewoo much needed manufacturing flexibility to meet the strong global demand for our most popular vehicle.” Wayne Brannon, executive director of Chevrolet Europe, said: “We need more Chevys to meet European demand. Wherever possible, it just makes sense to build where we sell.” Chevrolet’s sales in Europe have grown fast in the past three years, from 190,000 in 2004 to what is expected to exceed more than 300,000 in 2006. Production at the FSO facility will increase slowly from some 4,000 cars built in the latter part of 2007 to upwards of 60,000 in the first full year of production in 2008. Further increases to over 150,000 units per year are planned once all three model variants are in place. The initial phase of Chevrolet production will secure more than 1,000 jobs among the current FSO workforce. The Warsaw plant in which the Aveo will be built is owned and managed by General Motors’ long-standing Ukrainian partner, UkrAvto. The company currently manufactures and distributes Chevrolet vehicles in Ukraine, where the brand has a market share of more than 8 percent. GM and UkrAvto will work together to ensure the highest standards of quality. According to Eric Stevens, GM Europe’s vice president of manufacturing, “General Motors’ track record of producing world-class vehicles in Poland gives us the confidence to take this important next step. Our experience since 1998 at the Gliwice plant in southern Poland has been extremely positive. We are confident the workforce in Warsaw will deliver vehicles of the same world-class performance and quality.” GM’s Gliwice plant produces the Opel Zafira, Astra Classic and Agila. Chevrolet has a long and proud production tradition in Poland. The first Chevrolet models were built in a plant in Warsaw’s Wolska Street as early as 1928 with a second plant starting production in the suburb of Wola in 1937. At that time, Polish workers were trained at General Motors International A/S in Copenhagen.
