The "Sea Fighter" is an experimental twin-hulled ship built by Titan Corp. According to the Navy, it can operate at speeds greater than 50 knots and has a range of 4,000 nautical miles.

It arrived at the Broadway Pier in San Diego Bay at about 7 a.m., where Navy brass and dignitaries including Reps. Duncan Hunter, Randy "Duke" Cunningham and Darryl Issa were welcomed aboard and taken out for a test run. The ship has been assigned to the U.S. Third Fleet at Naval Station San Diego for several months of testing.

The "Sea Fighter" has a landing pad for two helicopters and is designed to operate in shallow water. It's extreme speed makes it a good prospect for a patrol boat, officials said.

"It will mean the ability to conduct more operations in a shallow-water environment such as we have in the Arabian Gulf, like the Navy is conducting right now in Iraqi waters," public affairs officer Lt. Josh Frey said.

Navy officials said the twin hull design of the "Sea Fighter" could be adapted for other kinds of ships, including landing craft, destroyers and aircraft carriers.

A380 intra in serviciu in 2006, al lui Boing in 2008.
